Disaster Ninja for Enhanced Disaster Response and Data Accuracy in OSM
Andrei Klopau

OpenStreetMap (OSM) serves as an indispensable resource for geographical data, particularly in humanitarian interventions. This talk introduces Disaster Ninja, an application developed by Kontur to assist the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) in updating and refining OSM data in disaster-affected areas. The presentation will cover Disaster Ninja's ability to spotlight active local mappers, thereby leveraging community expertise for data validation and updating. It will also discuss the application's quality assurance tools that help identify and correct data issues within OSM. The session will detail how Disaster Ninja's reporting features are used to assess roads, compare population numbers with actual data, and verify administrative boundaries, demonstrating its utility for both disaster management professionals and the HOT OSM team.
