Przemysław Boszczar

I am 24 years old. I created my account in 2017, but I have been an active contributor to OpenStreetMap since 2019.
Discovering it pulled me into the world of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and led me to switch my academic focus to Geography, which I currently study. I also enjoy the analytical aspect of OpenStreetMap and solving problems related to representing the world in the form of maps and databases.
My main passion lies in refining OpenStreetMap data in Poland, particularly in Warsaw and its outskirts. I'm driven by the goal of improving the accuracy and detail of maps in these areas to make comprehensive geographic information accessible to all.

Micromapping in OpenStreetMap
Przemysław Boszczar

This presentation aims to introduce the phenomenon of Micromapping in OpenStreetMap. The author will present examples of micromapping, the types of objects it includes, his own definition, and helpful sources such as high-resolution aerial imagery and cadastral data. They will attempt to classify and showcase both good examples and best practices, as well as negative examples. The question of where the boundary of detail lies will also be raised. The examples shown will focus on Poland, but through its case, it will be possible to identify general patterns of micromapping.
Additionally, the author will attempt to highlight a problem within micromapping, which they tentatively call the phenomenon of "map freezing." This term refers to the issue where maps become overly detailed and static, potentially hindering updates and usability.
