DESCRIPTION:One of the pillars for success for OSM is the open nature of th
e project. Not only can any user add data of their choice to any location
on the globe but also the geometry and semantics underlay no authoritative
constraints. This results in a rich and diverse dataset.\nIn this analyse
s we inquire into one aspect of the datasets diversity looking at users ed
iting behaviour. A new methodology to investigate the tendency of users to
make edits that are rare or uncommon is proposed and a thorough data anal
yses is conducted. Analysing the detailed mapping practices of users in OS
M can be a difficult task due to the data volume and the complexity. Using
the OSHDB provided by HeiGIT we estimate the rarity of a certain map acti
on by analysing how often said action is performed.\nThe analyses is twofo
ld looking at tag changes on the one hand and edits to map features types
on the other hand. Rare tag edits are actions that add or delete tags that
rarely occur in OSM such as unique place names or uncommon opening hours.
Rare map feature type edits are actions that e.g. change the geometry of
relatively rare map objects such as hospitals or cowsheds - rareness is he
re defined based on the general abundance of the primary tag such as `high
way` or `building`. Users are then evaluated based on their tendency to co
ntribute these rare edits to the database. We call these edits unicorn edi
ts as they are rare but make the map a more colourful place.\nOur analysis
shows that contrary to our assumption there is a large number of tags and
map feature types that have only few contributions. As a result\, a large
share of OSM users in the analysed regions exhibits a rather high tendenc
y to map rare elements.\nAn index is introduced\, the so called unicorn in
dex\, that allows users to compare their tendency to make rare edits to ot
her users in the same region. The presented analyses is limited to Heidelb
erg and Łódź but an interactive website is made available where users c
an compute their personal unicorn index for Germany and Poland as well.

he types of objects it includes\, his own definition\, and helpful sources
such as high-resolution aerial imagery and cadastral data. They will atte
mpt to classify and showcase both good examples and best practices\, as we

will also be raised. The examples shown will focus on Poland\, but throug
h its case\, it will be possible to identify general patterns of micromapp

DESCRIPTION:German municipalities are beginning to discover the potential o

DESCRIPTION:The latest addition to the data collections available on the Co
pernicus Data Space ecosystem is the Copernicus Contributing Missions data
. These missions encompass existing or planned commercial missions from EU
Member States or Copernicus Participating States\, commercial operators o
f Very High Resolution (VHR) optical and radar missions\, and other emergi
ng European mission operators that provide some of their data for Copernic
us. This collection is particularly interesting for the OpenStreetMap volu
nteer community due to the availability of high-resolution optical images
that can serve as a basemap for vectorization. The WMS services to be pres
ented combine data discovery\, access\, (pre)-processing\, publishing (ren
dering)\, and dissemination capabilities available within a single RESTful
(Representational state transfer) query. This gives a user great flexibil
ity in terms of on-the-fly data extraction across a specific AOI (Area Of
Interest)\, mosaicking\, reprojection. The performance of the Copernicus D
ata Space Ecosystem and CREODIAS platform combined with efficient open sof
tware (Postgres 15 with PostGIS extension\, MapServer with GDAL backend) a
llows achieving WMS service response times below 1 second on average. This
\, in turn\, provides potential for massive parallelization of computation
s given the horizontal scaling of the Kubernetes cluster\, and high availa
bility of the data to be used without the need for downloading the origina

DESCRIPTION:As part of the research carried out into selected aspects of da
tabase quality OSM database\, an analysis of a collection of address point
s collected in the database of OpenStreetMap (OSM) database for selected a
dministrative units of Poland. This presentation presents the obtained res
ults of the analysis. Validation was performed using appropriately develop
ed tool and based on comparison of address data with the reference databas
e State Register of Borders (PRG). The analysed descriptive and spatial fe
atures of the address data in the OSM\, such as the name of the of localit
y\, street\, building number and coordinates\, were compared in a specific
way with analogous metadata from the PRG database. The analysis using an
appropriately designed tool aimed to improve the quality of address data i
n OSM through systematic validation and comparison with reference data\, a
s well as to developing good practices in the context of working with addr
ess data. A number of interesting results and conclusions in this respect.
Furthermore\, on the basis of the conducted tests and analyses\, it was c
onfirmed\, among other things\, that the state of addresses in OpenStreetM
ap depends on the the involvement of the community\, which takes care of t
he integrity of the points. Relevant examples\, including the possession o
